Australia’s Kangaroo Puncher Won’t Lose His Zoo Job

Is it ok to punch a kangaroo in the face if it has your dog in a chokehold? General consensus seems to be yes.

If you've been on social media in the past few days, you've likely seen, what's been dubbed the "most Aussie video" ever.

A man runs up to a kangaroo that has his dog in a head lock and pops it right in the kisser.

The kangaroo is stunned.

All the makings of a viral video, right? Soon after the world got a hold of this footage, we learned who the marsupial puncher was: an elephant keeper at the Taronga Western Plains Zoo named Greig Tonkins.

Quickly, the international community started to wonder: Could this punch cost him his job? Nope.

The Taronga Zoo released a statement on Tuesday, Dec.

6, saying that while it doesn't condone the striking of animals or support the use of dogs to hunt, Tonkins will not be losing his job because of the incident.
